Day 27 of plant-based challenge

Mission accomplished, I weighed in today at 168lbs. My goal for the weekend was to stay under 170lbs.
I ate at my parents house yesterday. We have roast with all the vegetables and cole slaw. I had a couple tablespoons of cool whip in my coffee for dessert.

This time I included the totals and my goals in the picture. Low sodium yesterday, high on protein and fats.

I had 6 hours and 16 minutes of activity yesterday. This doesn't include my one hour run. See my run below. I had 17623 steps and burned 2920 calories.

I ran for 1hour and 6minutes. It wasn't a fast run. It was a nice easy pace. It guesses I burned about 820 calories on this run. My distance was 6.20 miles.

I ran mostly in zone 4. The zones on the app are probably a little low for me.

Only 3 days left on this challenge. Let's see if I can make it back down to 164lbs on the last day.

Day 26 of plant-based challenge.

We went out last night with some friends to Bravo's Mexican Restaurant in Tulsa. Really good food. I had chicken fajitas, queso, guacamole, and cervesa. Lots of chips too. But the early part of the day I was all plant-based and healthy. We went to the horse races in Tulsa after the dinner.

Once again I ate over 3,000 calories and had too much sodium. I'll be glad when this weekend is over.

I wasn't very active yesterday either. I did a weight training session and worked on the pool. Then I laid in the pool and listened to some podcast.

Today I started with my run. Don't forget to check back tomorrow and see if I stayed below 170lbs through the weekend.

Day 24 and 25 of plant-based challenge

Happy belated 4th of July! I spent some time celebrating and the scales show it today. I weighed in at 169.5lbs today. If you look at the sodium I've taken in over the last two days you can probably guess that I'm holding a lot of water. Even though I've had some animal products over the last two days, the biggest problem is the chips. The chips are plant-based but loaded with the wrong oils. Of course the alcohol doesn't help either, but it is plant-based, ;-P. I've been active over the last couple of days and exercised some but of course exercise and activity can never make up for poor diet choices.

Day 24

The main thing to look at on the food journal is the sodium. The RDA for sodium is 2,300 mg. I consumed at least 3,127 mg on the 3rd. I had cheese and a chicken breast, but everything else was plant-based.

I was active for 7 hours and 51 minutes. I logged 21635 steps. The Loop estimates that I burned 3223 calories.

I ran on the 3rd. I ran for over an hour. But here is the kicker, I spent most of my time in zone 5. Zone 5 burns carbs, not fat. If you look back on some of the days where I ran in zone 2 and 3 notice that the next day my weight was down. Running in the correct heart rate zone for your goals is extremely important. I should say exercising in the correct heart rate zone. You could be walking, doing Zumba, or some other form of exercise. If fat loss is your goal, you will want to be in zone 2.

Day 25, Happy 4th of July

I again ate too much sodium on the 4th. Not as much as yesterday but still a lot of sodium. I had beef, chicken, and some dairy at dinner, but the rest was plant-based.

It shows that I was active for only 6 hours yesterday. I spent a lot of time yesterday cleaning the pool and I wasn't wearing my Loop in the pool. So some activity wasn't recorded. My pool is 85 degrees (F). So I didn't get any thermogenic effects from being in the pool. I only logged in 7971 steps yesterday. Estimated to have burned 2,338 calories.

Only 5 days left on my challenge. My goal for this weekend is to not go above 170lbs. Let's see if I make it.

3 free plant-based ebooks

Don Matesz and Tracy Minton are offering their ebooks for free this weekend. They are asking that you pay it forward in some way instead of charging for the books.

"Each of us has our own unique 'body of knowledge, and body of experience.'  What special knowledge or gifts do you have, that you could share with one other or many?  You may take for granted those gifts unique to you, but let me tell you, there are many who can benefit from your unique voice or talents.

The real question is, who are we all NOT to share what is inside of us?

We can help make the world a better place if we all step up, and step out on a limb, risking whatever perceived fears reaching past our comfort zone conjures up and finding the courage to share what is ours to offer.

So lets see how far we can get.

The other request is feed back, likes to our FB page, and reviews on Amazon, or posted here in the comments section.  Any financial donations you can make are also greatly appreciated.  "

Day 23 of 30 day plant-based challenge

Yesterday I ate a lot of sweet potatoes. Today I weighed in at 164lbs. I was very active yesterday. I cleaned my garage and shop.

I ate quite a bit yesterday but it wasn't a lot of calories. I had salad, fruits, and sweet potatoes.

I was active for 10 hours and 5 minutes yesterday. I logged in 20107 steps. I burned 2942 calories. I didn't have any inactivity alerts.

I ran today and I added so protein. It will be interesting to see what my weight is tomorrow.

Day 22 plant-based Challenge

Yesterday was Tuesday, July 1st. The year is half over. Unbelievable. I didn't exercise much, or move around that much yesterday. I taught a fitness kickboxing class and pushed the lawn mower for a little while. I also ran the weed eater around part of the yard. I had my HRM on when I was mowing but I didn't punch the button on my Loop, so the data wasn't recorded. Bummer.

I was only active for 7 hours and 4 minutes yesterday. I logged 17301 steps. I burned 2,950 calories. I had 2 inactivity alerts. One of them was at 2:09am. I was sleeping during that time. Well, I was supposed to be sleeping. But you can tell I had a very tough time sleeping that night. I was restless quite a few times. I was so restless that the Loop thought I was actually wake and moving around. This explains my nap yesterday.

I didn't exercise yesterday because I gave blood. I could have exercised but I chose to mow grass instead.

My food was plant-based but I should have probably eaten more yesterday. I drank a lot of liquids to replace the blood I gave but I should have eaten more. I weighed 165.5 this more which is 3lbs down from yesterday. This was my 3rd week on my plant-based challenge. Today I weigh 8.5lbs less than I did at the start. I will probably bounce back up a little tomorrow, but we'll see.

Day 21 of plant-base challenge.

I felt kind of blah yesterday and a little bit today. I didn't do much yesterday. My diet was still plant-based.

I was only active 6 hours and 39 minutes on Monday. I only logged 9877 steps, I didn't even meet my goal. I had 1 inactivity alert.

I had a lot of calories yesterday. See what happened to my weight this morning. Stop back by tomorrow.
