Functional Health

I went to interview today with Gary Young. I signed up to take a Personal Training course with him. While I was there a woman came in to sign up for his weigh loss challenge course. She was probably 80 lbs overweight, she said she was comfortable with her body. But she was worried about her ability to function, especially her ability to play with her grand children.
She said her doctor told her she was a healthy overweight patient.
 So my thought is.
You can be healthy and weight appropriate or healthy and overweight. You can also be unhealthy and weight appropriate or unhealthy and overweight. But the big goal is to be functionally healthy. Can you play like you want to play? Can you work like you want to work? Can you exercise like you want to exercise? Can you do all the physical activities that you want to do? If not, you are not functionally healthy. It is my contention that it is far easier to be functionally healthy if you are weight appropriate for your height

2012 Dirty 30 Zombie Edition

The crew and I ran in the Dirty 30 Race - Zombie Edition today. It was in Hinton, OK. The run was a lot of fun. It was a little cold, but we all had a great time.
