Week 5 Day 1 reset transition

I continued losing fat through the weekend. I weighed 171lbs this morning. I had beef fajitas this weekend at El Charro's. We ate at Texas Roadhouse this weekend also. Not to mention the food I put away at my Mom's house on Sunday. So it wasn't all salads and tators this weekend. I ran 5 miles on Sunday and did 110 burpees.

Weight Commander keeps telling me to slow down. I put some arrows on the picture to point out a couple of things. You can click on the picture to zoom in on it. On the left you will see I dropped 8.5lbs in a week. On the right you can see that I weigh a pound less than I did a year ago.
One food that I recently added to my diet was Tiger Nuts. Huh? Tiger Nuts will soon be the new super food. Why? Resistant Starch is why. So what are Tiger Nuts? They are commonly know as Chufas seeds. All sorts of animals like these tubers and hunters plant them to attract game.
Richard Nikoley has an excellent blog post about Tiger nuts that is well worth a read.

This is one brand of Tiger nuts you can buy. I don't really recommend this brand because they have a dirty grassy taste to them at first. After you chew them for a minute it releases the sweet nutty flavor. But, the owner of the company did call me after my order arrived to check on it. So I'll say they have great customer service.

This is a really great tasting Chufa seed/Tiger Nut. It is imported from Spain. The Spanish make a drink from Chufa called horchata. This product doesn't have a strong grassy taste like the other brand. You could probably buy some of the seeds they sell for growing chufa and eat those as well.
More about resistant starch later. Or you can go to Richard's site and read all his different post on the subject. Gut health, its going to be big.

Here's some of the other foods I ate over the weekend, in addition to the restaurant food and my Mom's food.

I added some Kim Chee, which is fermented cabbage. It has probiotics in it for gut health.

I put the Kim Chee on a salad.

I had this sweet potato with the Kim Chee and salad.

I had some of these berries for dessert.

I made up some pico de gallo on Sunday.

So here is the creation of a salad:

I start with some wild greens.

I add some classic romaine.

A pepper and some cucumbers.

I add some mushrooms.

I add my pico de gallo.

Then top it with some of El Charro's salsa.

This morning I had a different variation using berries. I had greens and the classic romaine with the berries on top. I also had a baked sweet potato. I'm adding phase 1 and 2 foods back to my diet as I transition out of the reset.

week 4 day 5 Starch Reset

I weighed in at 172.5 this morning. That's 11lbs down from 30days ago. I started transitioning out of the Starch Reset and into other whole foods. I did one exercise routine yesterday afternoon with a client.

Here's what I had yesterday to eat:
Rice, beans, peppers, pico de gallo
Salad with greens, broccoli, pico de gallo, mushrooms, pepper, radishes, cucumbers, whatever else you spot in there.
More rice and beans
More salad with loads of vegetables
1/2 of a pomegranate
Not pictured; 2 bananas, 4 strawberries, 1/3 cup blackberries

First bowl of food for the day.

Second bowl of food.

I had this salad with the second bowl of food.

Second salad of the day.

I had a small bowl of beans and rice with the second salad. Notice there are more beans than rice.

It was a lot of work but I had half of the seeds from this pomegranate.

We had some crispy potato wedges tonight after I finished with the classes. I had Fish and Chip vinegar on the wedges instead of ketchup. I'm being to think ketchup may slow down results on the starch reset. Or maybe I just use too much of it. Either way the vinegar puts a stop to the ketchup.

I weighed in at 174lbs this morning. Fasted BGL this morning was 87 mg/dL. Yesterday I started adding in vegetables, mushrooms, fruits, and berries into my diet. This is the transition from the starch reset into a True Primal Diet. I added back leafy vegetables, mushrooms, fruits, and berries.  Here's what I had to eat yesterday:

The final product. Peppers, pico de gallo, mushrooms, and leafy greens.

Another low sugar, high on taste dessert.

Week 4 Day 3 Hack

I weighed 175.5lbs this morning. Yesterday I did one exercise session for 30 minutes. This is what I had to eat yesterday:

Lentils with broccoli and peppers
2 bananas
1 large sweet potato
1 bowl rice, beans, and peppers

It started with leftover lentils and steamed broccoli.

Week 4 Day 2 Hack

I weighed 179lbs yesterday and 177.5lbs today. I think I'll only weigh on Tuesdays. :-) I spent this weekend reading on the potato hack and other gut related site. I didn't take any food pics yesterday. I should have. We boiled up some red lentils that turned out really tasty. I also had some soup yesterday that a client made. It wasn't part of the hack but it was delicious too.

Week 3 Day 7 hack

I weighed 179.5 this morning. Yesterday was the birthday party. So I had a lot of junk. I also had a couple glasses of wine last night. I did two workouts and a short run yesterday.

I had a protein shake after leading and participating in the classes today.

Fruits, veggies, cheeses, and a couple of wraps. I also had some potato chips with these foods.

We had cookies and brownies instead of cake for the party.

I'll soon be adding more information about resistant starch on the potato hack.

Week 3 Day 6 Hack

I weighed in this morning at 177.5lbs, that's .5lbs lighter than yesterday. I did one work out yesterday. This is what I had to eat.

For the 1st meal of the day I had my leftover sweet potatoes from Whole Foods. They were good even reheated.

My no fat potato salad. No eggs and no mayo. Just boiled potatoes, mustards, pickles, and spices.

We ate at El Charro's last night. I had beef fajitas, chips, queso, guacamole, Michelob, and flan. The flan was for my granddaughters birthday. Thank you El Charro's for the flan.

I also had four tablespoon of potato starch yesterday. More on the starch later.
